Stranger Things Sign in to your ScreenRant account Warning! Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season 4, volume 2. The Duffer Brothers reveal that Stranger Things season 4 almost ended with an additional character's death. After an almost 3-year wait, season 4, volume 1, of Netflix's hit horror/fantasy series was finally released in May. Stranger Things season 4 introduced a new villain in the form of Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), an interdimensional being who kills his victims by invading their thoughts. Volume 2 of season 4 hit Netflix last week, promptly breaking viewership records and setting the stage for the show's final season. Season 4 is noticeably more gruesome than previous seasons, seeing Vecna kill his victims by breaking all of their limbs, blinding them, and then snapping their necks. Hawkins High School student Chrissy (Grace Van Dien) was the first to go, followed soon after by Fred (Logan Riley Bruner) and Patrick (Myles Truitt). Despite the shocking nature of those characters' deaths, it was Eddie Munson's (Joseph Quinn) demise in the Stranger Things season 4 finale that proved the most emotional, with the beloved character sacrificing himself in order to distract Vecna. Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) also did not make it through the most recent season, despite the character's miraculous Demogorgon survival in Stranger Things season 1. In a new interview with Collider, the Duffer Brothers reveal that Dmitri (Tom Wlaschiha), aka Enzo, was also slated to die at one point. They don't reveal how exactly the character would have met his end, but it was originally planned to happen at some point in volume 2. Check out the Duffer Brothers' full comment below: "In terms of who makes it, who lives or dies. I think there was a version where Dimitri, AKA Enzo, didn't make it. Then he ended up making it. But that's [the most] radical of a departure from the original idea versus what we ended up with." Although something of a wildcard when audiences first meet him in Stranger Things season 4, Enzo, as Hopper calls him, ends up becoming a strong ally. The character starts

Few will probably die. Not everyone can survive to see Stranger Things 5’s last episode. And, although we assume the duo can’t actually spoil anything, it does seem likely that if we’re getting final season Stranger Things deaths, they won’t be small ones. NetflixOn the topic of character deaths, David Harbour revealed to Variety that he’s known how Stranger Things will end for a long time. He shares more about the fate of his character, Hopper: I think it varies from person to person, from character to character, and I’m such a harassment specialist that I think I’ve gotten it out of them. It’s been back and forth about like, ‘What happens to Hopper? Is he a character that’s able to survive Hawkins or does he die?’ I know what happens and it’s quite moving, and quite beautiful. And then adds:I think that I needed to know as we were shooting early on, because I needed to know where he ends up and for what reason he ends up there. I think there is going to be somewhat of a morality — or at least responsible storytelling — to what the Duffers are doing. There’s a reason in Season 2 why Bob dies. He’s too innocent. You can’t go up to that monster and say, like, ‘Get away from me, get away!’ You just can’t be that person in this world. That person dies. So I think there’s a responsibility in terms of how Hopper ends up that I’m eager for people to see, and I had to know that going in so I knew where to arc it.We get no clear answer. But Harbour does remind us that even if we do see some heartbreaking character deaths in Stranger Things 4 & 5, they’ll be in service to telling the best possible story. So regardless of the specifics, we can expect a beautiful ending for the show. As mentioned, Stranger Things 4 Volume One releases on May 24. The possibility of character deaths always looms over fans of any good television series, and Stranger Things is absolutely one good TV series. As Stranger Things moves closer to its penultimate and final seasons, the question of whether some of our beloved main characters will die is top of mind. Will Eleven die? Will Dustin die? Maybe Steve will die? Or could Hopper “die” again? These questions and more plague all those who love the show. So it’s no surprise possible character demises are getting discussed in the run-up to Stranger Things 4 Volume One, which premieres with its first seven episodes on May 27. Here’s what some of the cast had to say about whether death will visit our favorite characters as Stranger Things concludes. Speaking to The Wrap, Stranger Things stars Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp, who play Eleven and Will Byers, respectively, touched on the idea of character death. Although interestingly, the question posed to them addresses Strange Things 5, implying perhaps our characters are spared in Stranger Things 4. But, of course, given the stringent attempt not to spoil anything, the reference to season five could mean nothing. “You want Will to die.” Brown addresses at Schnapp, who denies the sentiment at first. But then adds, “I guess at the end…” He trails off. Brown then shares, “We’re all afraid of one of us dying.” And Schnapp picks up with, “One of us will die.” Honestly, he sounds serious. Brown looks at him and adds, “I know, just which one.” The host interjects, saying, “You really think one of the kids will die? I don’t think so.” But Schnapp seems to disagree. “Yeah, 100%. And more. They need to kill off some people. It’s so big… They just need to have on massacre scene where half the cast dies.”NetflixBrown seems to agree. She notes, “The Duffer Brothers are two sensitive sallies that don’t want to kill anybody off. We need to be Game of Thrones. We need to have the mindset of Game of Thrones... Kill me off! They tried killing David off, and they brought him back!”It’s hard to suss out what’s joking and what’s real. But it does feel like main character deaths are on the table. As Brown and Schnapp touch on, the odds just aren’t in the favor of the characters. There are so many of them running around that aEveryone Who Dies In Stranger Things 4
Warning: This post contains spoilers for Stranger Things season 4. The fourth season of Stranger Things featured the deaths of beloved (and not so beloved) characters, including Hellfire Club president and metalhead Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) and Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine). As it turns out, another character narrowly avoided a grim fate. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer revealed that in an initial script, Enzo (Tom Wlaschiha), the Russian security guard who becomes imprisoned police chief Jim Hopper's (David Harbour) confidante, did not make it out of Kamchatka. "In terms of who makes it, who lives or dies, I think there was a version where Dimitri, a.k.a. Enzo, didn't make it," Matt told Collider. At first an untrustworthy ally, Enzo helps Hopper burst out of the high-security prison. But not so much out of the goodness of his own heart — it's all about the Benjamins, baby. He's in cahoots with a kooky pilot named Yuri (Nikola Djuricko), who double crosses the both of them — as well as the unassuming Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Murray (Brett Gelman) in exchange for even more Benjamins, baby. "He ended up making it," Matt said of the fan favorite. (The same, of course, cannot be said for another Russian fan favorite, the Slurpee-loving Alexei, in season 3. RIP. Gone but never forgotten.) "But that's [the most] radical of a departure from the original idea versus what we ended up with." Ross added that it's unusual for them to deviate from initial scripts. "When we're breaking a season, that is one of the first things we're talking about is, 'Where do we want this story to end up?' So the ending is always that goal post. Even as we're breaking episode one, we know exactly where we're going. I don't think we've deviated truly in any season for the finale, we've always stuck to it. I believe the case is the same here." The Cult of Vecna removed their hoods to reveal recognizable faces. Vecna is a resourceful character who created the Upside Down into what it is. Therefore, it's highly possible that he's keeping his victims' essence as future tools that will be utilized for a more aggressive fight going into Stranger Things season 5. Both Will and Vecna's psychic link to Vecna remain wholly unexplained. Will Byers was one of the first victims of the Upside Down in season 1 when he was snatched and stored in the dark, dangerous world of the Upside Down. Since then, Will's mind has had an unbreakable link to the world of the Upside Down, which has helped him to direct others and detect when threats are coming. The only other person with some sort of psychic link on the heroes' team is Eleven, who has her own psychic gifts. However, both have some sort of mental link with Vecna, as he has used this to communicate with and threaten the kids at times. Even if Vecna and Eleven are connected through their gift, it is not perfectly clear how he manages to remain in Will's head. This intense connection could have been intentional, or possibly a side effect from Will's time in the Upside Down, but the link works both ways, and both Will and Eleven can use it to their advantage. 4 If Vecna Dies, Will Others Die Too? Vecna's powerful mind reaches across dimensions. However, the connection could present some other complications which are less desirable. Considering the Upside Down has a permanent residence in Will's mind, and Eleven also has a
