2025-04-22Tapbots, the creators of the extremely popular Twitter app Tweetbot, have released Netbot, an iPhone and iPad client for the Twitter-like social network App.net. If you're a fan of Tweetbot, you'll immediately feel at home with Netbot with its identical interface, familiar sounds, and simply outstanding design. There are three main tabs in Netbot: Timeline, Mentions, and your profile. If you tap on a post, a toolbar will slide out from under it that gives you options to reply, repost (re-tweet), star (favorite), share, and more. You can also double-tap on a post to see its details or triple-tap it to reply (triple-tap can be changed to repost, star, or translate in Settings). Swiping a post to the right will open the conversation view and swiping to the left will open the post Detail view. If you use Tweetbot, you should already be familiar with all these gestures.App.net profile pages allow for a "cover photo". In Netbot, profiles pages show the user's cover image at the top of the screen and, if you swipe down, the image will grow and zoom with the interface. If the user does not have a cover image, the default dark, charcoal background will be in its place. On any given profile, you can look up the user's posts, followers, following, mentions, and stars. You can also mute or follow users from their profiles. The last two tabs in Netbot are customizable by holding your finger down on them. Your choices are stars, search, or mute filters.Netbot
2025-04-11To watch the Oscars and don’t want to see your feed hijacked by commentary and film-based quips? Not a problem—Tweetbot can block all of this stuff long enough to keep you in the dark and keep your timeline clean and clear. Tweetbot also has an iOS app available as a separate purchase that largely emulates the experience we’ve described above onto a smaller display. Tweetbot continues to be an excellent Twitter client for both iOS and Mac in 2020, and if you’ve fully invested into the Apple ecosystem, you’ll want to make sure you grab both as soon as you can, since the two apps feature a syncing functionality that bring forth one of the best experiences for Twitter today. This includes matching where you left off in your timeline, unread statuses for tweets you haven’t seen, and automatically syncing mute filters, so your experience between the two platforms is consistent and easy-to-follow. Overall, Tweetbot is our favorite Mac desktop client for Twitter by a longshot. No other apps we tested on the Mac App Store can come close to touching the experience, featureset, and customization offered by Tweetbot, and that’s why we love it. Tweetbot might be a bit expensive for a Twitter client, but between its muting functionality, cross-device compatibility and syncing between iOS and MacOS, and support for third-party services like Bit.ly, Droplr, Pocket, and Instapaper, Tweetbot is incredibly easy to use and makes browsing Twitter a lot more capable and fun than what we’ve seen from the basic Twitter website. If you’re on MacOS and you’re a Twitter fanatic, you owe it to yourself to grab this one right away—even at $9.99, you won’t regret it. TweetBot for MacOS Tweetium for Windows 10 In our eyes, the best Windows-exclusive Twitter app you can grab this year is still Tweetium, a third-party application available on the Windows Store for just $2.99. Like Tweetbot, there are some standard limitations to using a third-party Twitter app on Windows instead of the website or official client, but overall, we’re really big fans of what Tweetium brings to the table in
