Family Season 2 continues following the Forger Family, consisting of Loid, Yor, Anya, and Bond. However, this season focuses on the manga story arc titled “The Cruise Adventure” arc. In it, Anya and her family embarked on a luxurious cruise vacation. During this event, Yor must protect a woman and her child from several menacing assassins. While Spy X Family Season 2 addresses some issues fans had with the first, some similar issues rear their head here. However, fans will cheer knowing season 2 is a step up from the first. Spy X Family Season 2’s Cruise Adventure Arc is what the series needed to keep all viewers invested. This arc provides viewers with a great deep dive into Yor’s assassin career. From Yor’s multiple fights with the Cruise assassins to her exceptional partnership with Matthew, this is exactly what we needed to see from her character. Although Yor’s motherly persona and antics were charming in season one, having her stuck in those situations was a poor decision as she felt sidelined in comparison to Anya and Loid. Additionally, this story arc is well-crafted and offers some twists some fans may not have anticipated. From unexpectedly powerful foes to the surprising tension between the informant and the evil assassins, fans will appreciate series creator, Tatsuya Endo’s writing here. Black Doves isn’t simply a spy thriller set around Christmas. Sure, series creator Joe Barton wrote this show during the holidays, and he wanted to do something “spy-y,” but this spy-assassin story stands apart due to the framework of a gorgeous friendship. Helen (Keira Knightley) and Sam (Ben Whishaw) have an unconditional platonic love, and they share the special type of bond known to women with gay male best friends. Their bond also relies on shared secrets and a unique understanding of their double lives, and dammit, Knightley and Whishaw have superb chemistry together, too.Netflix did renew Black Doves shortly before series launched in early December, so let’s get down to (spy) business on what we can expect next.
