News Forum Phones Photos Reviews Themes Wallpapers. Forum General discussions Rumours Sony Xperia rumours 2025 Is anyone not trying to woo mobile app developers? Sony Ericsson has launched an SDK for its first Windows Mobile device, the forthcoming Xperia X1. The beta software development kit enables programmers to build and test Xperia Panels and other apps for the device which runs Windows Mobile 6.1. Sony Ericsson describes the Panels as 'lightweight apps' which enable users to customise the X1's user interface. Sony Ericsson said Panels support HTML and Microsoft's Visual Studio development environment. Developers will be able to test their efforts directly on their PC, rather than having to have use phone hardware. The company added it will be creating a dedicated category for Panels in its content competition this year - presumably in the hopes of drumming up developer interest in the X1. The X1 - its first Windows Mobile device - was shown off earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress trade show, with a mooted launch date of the second half of this year. The mobile maker recently denied rumours the X1's launch would be delayed. A spokesman told silicon.com a launch date would be announced next week but added that Sony Ericsson online shop states the handset will ship in October. Speaking to silicon.com recently, Gavin Byrne, research analyst at Informa Telecoms & Media, said mobile companies are involved in "a land grab for the application developers' mindshare". Sony Ericsson is not alone in serenading app makers. Last month Google released an SDK for its upcoming Android mobile OS and has been showering cash on developers - in the form of app competition prizes. Meanwhile Apple CEO Steve Jobs recently revealed the company raked in $30m in sales of iPhone apps in the first month it opened its doors - a mere cut of what its developers have turned over in app sales. 2025-04-23The internet is going crazy today over rumours that Sony is buying Take-Two and the studios that reside within it, including Rockstar Games, Firaxis, Hangar 13 and more.“Take-Two Interactive Software stock climbed 4.7% on rumors that Sony Corp. ‘is in advanced board level discussions to acquire Take-Two Interactive in a mostly cash deal,’ that would value the company at $130 share, according to Joel Kulina, head of technology and media trading at Wedbush Securities,” a report from Market Watch originally read.GamesIndustry.biz has since spoken to Kulina, who has distanced himself from the comment attributed to him.“This is purely unconfirmed market speculation that is making the rounds,” Kulina said. “I am not the source of this story in any regard. And not sure who quoted me as I didn’t speak with anyone over the phone (unless someone saw a trading note that I wrote).”Bizarrely, the duo who wrote Market Watch’s original report have distanced themselves from it as well, confirming that Kulina’s comment was the only source they’d heard the rumour from.“The stock shot up at the start of trade today to lead the S&P 500 and I was simply looking for plausible explanations,” Matthews told GamesIndustry. “Joel’s in a good position to know what’s moving individual tech stocks, even if they are just rumors. In terms of timing, [Take-Two] stock was well up before his email went out, so it was not his dissemination of the rumor that sparked the move.”We’ll highly doubtful that Sony’s in the process of buying Take-Two, but we’ll keep you informed as we learn more. A.I., streaming, blockchains and crypto all sat tantalisingly out of reach in an ill-defined digital future, when Wolfgang Boss (now EVP A&R for Sony Music) together with production team VooDoo Music and animator Erik Wernquist from Kaktus Films, created the most unlikely of pop superstars.Back in 2005, 'The Frog' took down the established industry old guard with a combination of high-definition animation and less well defined creative provenance. 2025-03-28Shakira has set a new streaming record, with her latest single ‘BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53’ receiving more than 63 million views on YouTube within its first 24 hours. It is the biggest debut of any Latin song on the platform to date. The strangely-titled new track has received widespread popularity in the days since its release. The pair first began a relationship in 2011, but split in 2022 amidst rumours of Piqué’s alleged infidelity. The massive popularity of ‘BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53’, has not come without controversy, with Venezuelan singer Briella alleging that the track plagiarises the melody of her own song, ‘Solo Tú’. Notably, Shakira’s 2006 single ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ was also the subject of plagiarism claims, with Jerry Rivera accusing the singer of lifting the trumpets from his song ‘Amores Como el Nuestro’, though in that case Sony had obtained the relevant rights without his knowledge.Further ReadingWatch Jennifer Lopez And Shakira Absolutely Slay The Super Bowl Halftime ShowHere’s Shakira’s Karaoke Cover Of The Green Day Classic ‘Basket Case’Shakira Video Promotes “Moral Decay”, Says Colombian Politician
