I dug out the json from the sql file like I would do before when I needed to restore individual sessions or tabs that I didn't mean to delete. Trying to open the recovered json through the new session buddy just tells me "no collections found"...I can't seem to find the deleted collection through the new history / snapshot feature either. They're blocking all non-company-issued browsers, so essentially locking us in to Chrome/Edge. As a lifelong Firefox user, I am repulsed! The CEO did clarify in a blog post why, but it's a blog post and the ToC is still a very strong thing.That said, there are alternatives like Waterfox and Zen Browser. Both allow you to use Mozilla accounts to sync up bookmarks and whatnot so it's an easy transition. For the new version of Opera they decided to put as many of the difficult to maintain and little used features into extensions as possible. I am using Firefox supplied as snap, and overall it works ok, but one major thing that doesn't work is session saving. I have set the option in Firefox to restore tabs and windows on startup, but it never happens. What is worse, is that the History menu does not offer a Restore Previous Session possibility.Looking in ~/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox//sessionstore-backups there are files called previous.jsonlz4, recovery.baklz4, recovery.jsonlz4, and some upgrade.jsonlz4- files, so something is saved. I just cannot make firefox load it again.Firefox does save my windows in the history and allows me to reopen them, but it does not save my session.If I open History menu and select Manage History, I get a window where I can see the session I want under Import and Backup->Restore->. If you're tired of losing your place when you close or restart Firefox, there's a simple remedy: Turn on "Restore previous session" in Options, and you'll get all your previously open tabs back the next time you restart. Here's how to set it up. First, open Firefox. In the upper-right corner of any window, click the hamburger button (three horizontal lines). In the menu that appears, select "Options." (On a Mac, click "Preferences.") In the Options tab, select "General" from the sidebar, then locate the "Startup" section. Place a checkmark beside "Restore previous session" to turn the feature on. After that, close the Options tab. The next time you restart Firefox, your tabs will be reloaded exactly as you left them before. Note that this setting will not work if you have configured Firefox to always start in Private Browsing mode. That setting forces Firefox to always forget your browsing sessions every time you close it. Happy browsing!
