Trouble reinstalling IE9 - AnandTech Forums

New 30 Jul 2013 #1 Win 7 - IE9 & IE10 update failure (Code 9C48) Problem originally started when trying to complete a Windows Update to install IE10 -- had connection issues due to my router and needless to say, the install failed... miserably. Kept trying to reinstall IE10 through Windows Update, and also manually, to no avail. Strangely enough, I could open IE, though not be able to use any of the toolbar menus or type in any address in the URL bar without it crashing.IE10 was not showing in the installed update list, however IE9 was. Tried uninstalling IE9 and have gotten myself into an even bigger mess. Now, IE10 IS showing in the installed update list but the system is requesting that I install IE9. Still fails just as before with the resulting 'Code 9C48'. Can also still open IE but get the same type of crash as before.Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! New 31 Jul 2013 #2 You have some major registry corruption. Code: Summary:Seconds executed: 1923 Found 586 errors CBS MUM Corrupt Total count: 2 CSI Missing Winning Component Key Total count: 584This seems to be a fairly comprehensive listing of the IE9 entries. It's not feasible to attempt to fix that manually - your only real option is going to be a repair install of Windows, followed by reinstalling IE9, and updating fully before attempting IE10 again.

New 29 Jul 2011 #1 This Feature Requires Internet Explorer 4.01 or Greater‏ Hi I am using Outlook from Office 2007, I am using Win 7 x 64 (fully updated) and have both 32 and 64 Browsers installed. "When I try to open Outlook I get a message "This Feature Requires Internet Explorer 4.01 or Greater to use this feature" I have searched the web for an answer to this problem but none are relevant or working for me. One thing I note is that the registry fixes use an IE Version number but when I check my the version numbers in IE9 32 ( Help/About) I get Version: (blank)Update Version: 0I think this may be the cause of the problem. I have tried running in safe mode but this did not work. Outlook 2007 has been working fine until two days ago, it was a new install of Office 2007 when I installed W7 Pro about 9 months ago, prior to that it was also working in Vista Ultimate. have done an Office 2007 repair to no avail. How can I fix issue? Thanks Daniel New 29 Jul 2011 #2 Perhaps an IE repair or registry fix is in order? Posts : 394 Desk Top with Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit and Lap Top with Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit New 05 Jan 2011 #1 IE9 won't download files I'm quite certain that I did not post this problem before, but if I did I apologize as I certainly do not want to double-post the same problem. Here is my problem with ie9. I have it installed on my netbook which has windows7 Starter and there are no problems. I also have it installed on my desktop with win7 Home Premium. With my desktop I simply can not download anything. When I start to download, I see the bar at the bottom. Regardless of what I select, nothing happens. I then go to the top and click on "View Downloads" and it says, "This program cannot be downloaded." I tried disabling my firewall and that did not help. I then reverted back to IE8 for awhile. I again re-installed ie9 but I have the same problem. I clicked on Internet Options>Security>Custom Level button and scrolled down to downloads to see if it was enabled and it was. I tried several different files to download but I get the same results, so it has nothing to do with the file I attempted to download. I don't know what else to try. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Posts : 2,292 Windows 7 Home Premium x64 New 06 Jan 2011 #2 Perhaps the fault is with the antivirus. Just a guess. Which one do you use?Does the same thing happen on the netbook? If you are willing to set up extensions, accelerators, and import bookmarks again, you can try and reset IE9 by going to Options -> Advanced Tab-> Reset (you can choose to keep your personal settings, but I don't see much point in resetting IE9 then) Posts : 736 Windows 7 Ultimate (SP1) Posts : 2,292 Windows 7 Home Premium x64 New 06 Jan 2011 #4 Yes, that's what I had in mind >__> Posts : 394 Desk Top with Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit and Lap Top with Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit Thread Starter New 06 Jan 2011 #5 This is really strange. I reset IE, reset personal settings, disabled my firewall and disabled antivirus. Nothing worked. I uninstalled and reinstalled ie9 several different times.
