Sphere Generator lets you create spherical block models within BlockBench. It works by creating a specified amount of cubes in the shape of sphere and then texturing each side to a an pre-rendered sphere. As you increase geometry detail, the model becomes closer and closer to a sphere. The generator can be accessed by Tools > Sphere Generator.OptionsOptionDescriptionTexture MappingSpecifies whether to use an cubemap or equirectangular mappingTexture LengthSize of the outputted rendered sphere texturesRotationRotation of the rendered sphere within the texturePositionOrigin point of the sphere modelSizeSize of sphere within X, Y, Z directionsGeometry DetailApproximate amount of elements to create the sphereSmoothingWhether to use Linear or Nearest neighbor when resizing and sampling texturesTextureImages to use for the sphere texture dependent on mappingInstallationYou may load this plugin in one of two ways: URL or File.Loading through URL is the recommended way, but the steps remain largely the same.URLOn the Blockbench menu bar, navigate to File > Plugins > Load Plugin from URL (located by hovering over the ellipses)In the dialog box, paste the following: "Confirm"Press "OK" when prompted to allow plugin changesFileHead to the latest release and download sphere_generator.jsOn the Blockbench menu bar, navigate to File > Plugins > Load Plugin from File (located by hovering over the ellipses)Select the "sphere_generator.js" you downloaded in step 1Press "OK" when prompted to allow plugin changes. 2025-04-21The Lowell Sphere is a SNOT (Studs Not On Top) LEGO sphere design that consists of six identical curved panels built onto a cubic frame. The original sphere uses a 4x4x4 stud core with an outside diameter of 6.8 studs. The idea of the Lowell Sphere can be expanded to any core and outside diameter size imaginable.HistoryThe story of the Lowell Sphere started in 2002. I designed the hemispherical engine nacelles of a Star Wars starfighter MOC (My Own Creation) using a rough precursor of what was to become the sphere design. The next year I attended my first LEGO convention. I noticed in a large pile of play bricks that there were multiples of the different elements I had used to create the nacelle. I played around with the design and was able to create a full sphere. The reaction at the convention was overwhelmingly positive; the LEGO community had not to date really seen a SNOT sphere, especially one so detailed and small. A few months later I posted it onto my original website as a “6.8 Stud Diameter Sphere” and it was received with the same positive reaction from the online LEGO community worldwide. In the years following I didn’t really incorporate the sphere into many MOCs, although I had a lot of ideas. In that time it had been used by builders around the world, by LEGO and in LEGOLAND parks, a program was built based off the idea (Bram Lambrecht’s Sphere Generator), and it had taken on the “Lowell Sphere” name. In 2010, I decided to revisit the sphere but not just as a sphere; I wanted to expand upon the original idea and create shaping using the 6.8 stud diameter. To start, I extended the largest diameter of the sphere (6.8 studs) into a cylinder and added a soft curve to it by elevating “slices” of the cylinder. An example of both the cylinder and soft curve can be seen in my Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. Next, I designed a T-intersection and a 90° curve, both of which are visible in my Cactus. I then used four 90° curves to make a torus (donut) shape, which naturally led itself to become a confectionery Donut! I’ve continued to build other MOCs using the original sphere as well as the shapes based off of it. Below is a sampling of my works. Some of my MOCs based off the Lowell Sphere
2025-04-20Endorse both. The outdoor nature sounds reminded me of a weekend in my youth with a rock band made of friends playing outdoors on a hill in a Provincial Park in Ontario. We needed a few hundred yards of extension cords so we could put the generator way down the hill. It was really loud. Now that I think about it, I don't remember much of anything else from that day. It was a party in 1969 after all. Thank you! And that's awesome... I imagine the '60s were a damn good time. I'm exploring the idea of creating more songs like this that feel like they were played outdoors, just like you and your buddies did, but minus the generator. #18 So , non UA users , who have also invested in your mike system are sol ? We have plenty more in the works for the bundled Sphere plug-in (native and UAD). Earlier this year we added the 800 and 251 models and plan on adding more models over time. It is our intention that a Sphere customer has a complete, valuable and growing collection and that any additional plugins be special and valuable in their own right. We think that the Ocean Way Collection and the work we have done alongside Allen Sides fit that criteria. #19 Very nice release! I'm still figuring out if I should buy a Sphere L22, but this might be one more good reason As there is a lot of hearsay about that:
