If your intent is coming from a positive nature and you are a using pure white energy, then that is what you will receive. If your intention is negative, then you are inviting negative spirits into your energy field.Do Not Use the Ouija Board Inside Your HomeI would suggest not using the Ouija Board in your home. Your home is your personal space and you do not need any excess energy coming in to your environment.Use with RespectAs I mentioned earlier, the Ouija Board is not a toy. Instead, it is a tool that helps bring in messages. These messages contain energy that is brought to you and it is real! Having a serious nature when using the Ouija Board indicates to the spirits that your intent is in alignment with a positive nature.Use White CandlesI would suggest lighting white candles before starting a session with the Ouija Board. White candles act as a symbol of protection. They also act as purifying or cleansing symbols.Always Board by moving the planchette (the pointer) to “Goodbye.” This ensures you’re not leaving an open door for lingering energies.Common MistakeMany people treat Ouija boards like games without understanding their potential implications. Neglecting these safety measures can result in unwanted psychological effects or encounters that could leave participants feeling unsettled.3. Using Inexperienced ParticipantsIt’s not uncommon for eager enthusiasts to invite friends or acquaintances who are unfamiliar with Ouija boards into their sessions. While sharing experiences can be rewarding, it can also lead to unexpected complications if not handled carefully. Why Experience MattersInexperienced users may approach the board with skepticism or fear, which can disrupt the energy flow during communication attempts. Additionally, they might not understand how to interpret messages correctly, leading to miscommunication and confusion among participants.Tips for Group CompositionOpt for groups of individuals who are either experienced or open-minded about the process. If you choose to include less experienced users, consider having someone knowledgeable guide them through the initial stages of using the board.Common MistakeBringing inexperienced participants into a session without proper preparation can result in erratic outcomes and heightened emotional responses. It’s advisable always to have at least one person present with previous experience who can help guide others through common practices and procedures.4. Disregarding Board Care and RespectA classic Ouija board isn’t just any game; it’s an instrument intended for spiritual communication. Disregarding its care undermines its purpose and could negatively impact your experiences.Importance of Respecting Your BoardTreating your Ouija board with reverence involves more than just physical care; it’s about acknowledging its potential power as a tool for connecting with other realms. Last updated on: February 28, 2025 The Ouija board, a tool steeped in mystery and intrigue, has captured the imagination of many for generations. Whether you’re an experienced user or a beginner just dipping your toes into the realm of spirit communication, there are essential guidelines to ensure your sessions are safe, respectful, and meaningful. With the rise in popularity of paranormal exploration, it’s easy to make missteps that can lead to confusion or even fear. Below are five common mistakes to avoid when using classic Ouija boards.1. Not Setting the Right IntentionOne of the fundamental principles of using a Ouija board is setting a clear and positive intention before starting your session. Many users fail to articulate their purpose explicitly, leading to chaotic energy and unclear messages. Importance of IntentionIntention acts as a guiding force during your session. It can shape the experience significantly, helping to filter out unwanted spirits or negative energies that may try to interfere. A clear intention might be as simple as wanting to communicate with a specific spirit or seeking guidance on personal matters. How to Set Your IntentionBefore beginning, gather everyone who will participate and discuss what you hope to achieve from the session. You might want to say your intention aloud or write it down. For instance, “We wish to connect with our beloved grandmother for comforting messages.” This practice helps create a focused environment, as all participants are united in their goal.Common MistakeFailing to set an intention often leads to vague results or encounters with lower-energy entities that thrive on confusion and chaos. Ensuring everyone involved knows the intent will foster clarity and help maintain a safe atmosphere.2. Ignoring Safety ProtocolsAnother pitfall for both novice and seasoned users alike is neglecting essential safety protocols that can help protect participants during a session. Safety FirstUsing a Ouija board involves interacting with energies beyond our understanding. As such, it is crucial to approach it with respect and caution. Ignoring these protocols can lead not only to distressing experiences but also emotional fatigue or lingering anxiety.Establishing Safety MeasuresCreate a Calm Environment: Ensure the area is quiet and free from distractions before you begin your session.Set Boundaries: Agree that if any participant feels uncomfortable at any point, they have the right to end the session immediately.Close the Session Properly: Always conclude your session by thanking any spirits you may have communicated with and formally closing theThe Rules Of A Ouija Board - SpiritShack

Cursed possessions are a group of seven powerful, supernatural items that are used to directly interface with the ghost. They can make the ghost appear or provide information, generally at the cost of sanity. These items are the Music Box, Ouija Board, Voodoo Doll, Haunted Mirror, Summoning Circle, Monkey Paw, and Tarot Cards. Activating or using a cursed possession will immediately cancel the setup phase.Mechanics[]On all default difficulties, except Insanity, one cursed possession is selected at random for every contract. Each item has one dedicated spawn location on a given map. On most maps these spawn locations are scattered around the map, while on a few (namely Brownstone High School, Prison, and Sunny Meadows), they are all within just one room. The use of cursed possessions is not mandatory. All objectives can be completed without them, and only a handful of Daily and Weekly Tasks require them outright. Cursed possessions grant players a level of control over the investigative process and the overall flow of a mission, but come with the risk of causing a hunt. The Music Box causes the ghost to sing, broadcasting its current location. The Haunted Mirror provides a view into the Ghost Room. The Ouija Board permits players to ask the ghost various questions. The Summoning Circle teleports the ghost to the circle. The Tarot Cards provokes various ghost activities. The Voodoo Doll forces the ghost to perform interactions. The Monkey Paw grants the player various wishes to call upon.Cursed possessions generally only work while the player is in the investigation area. All, except for the Summoning Circle and Ouija Board, must be picked up in order to be activated. Cursed possessions require a free hand to pick up, and cannot be stored in the inventory. Instead they drop to the ground when switching to a different item, like the Tripod. The Summoning Circle is the only item that is immovable, and must be interacted with by using either an igniter or a lit firelight.A photo can be taken of each spawned cursed possession in a contract. Photos reward up to 5XP and $5 depending on the distance the photo was takenComments
