Having Trouble with MMS Messages in Hangouts? New Update

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 5.0 with the latest updates. I intermittently cannot send or receive group chat messages. When I cannot receive the group chat message I will receive an individual message that says something like "New MMS message to download: size is 2KB, expires on 12/4, 1:48 PM.". When I select to download that message it will never download. It will try to download for a while and then stop.My primary messaging application is Google Hangouts but I have experienced the same problem on the default Android Messages application and the Verizon Message+ application.I have read multiple other threads in the Verizon community forums on this issue that have not lead to a solution (Cannot Send or receive MMS on new Galaxy S5. APN settings locked., Why does my Galaxy S5 only send and receive MMS/Group messages intermittently?, and Re: I just got a new Galaxy S5 on Wednesday and it's been having trouble connecting to the internet,...). I have tried everything suggested by Verizon Wireless Customer Support in those threads. Please do not ask me to try them again. My online research suggests that I should try resetting or changing my APN settings but they are disabled. Please help.

Has anyone gotten this working on the Sprint S6? I'd, in theory, love to be able to use Hangouts for both the new Voice group chatting AND normal MMS functions but it seems like I can either downgrade to Hangouts 3 or deal with using another SMS client for carrier MMS. Recently, Google released an update to the Google+ Hangouts application that brings a few bug fixes and enhancements, updating it to version 2.0.2. The latest update brought a few fixes that appeared to be costly for a bunch of Hangouts users. The latest Google Hangouts v2.0.2 gives users the ability to turn of group MMS from the Settings when sending a SMS to multiple people. Additionally, the update brought fixes while sending and receiving MMS on the device. Not too long ago, Google introduced SMS/MMS integration within the Hangouts application, replacing the default SMS application with it in the latest Android 4.4 KitKat and Google Nexus 5. This could be a disturbing change for a bunch of users who were used to the SMS application. Previously, it seems that whenever a user sent an SMS to multiple people, it would turn it into an MMS, which is obviously costly compared to the normal SMS. It became worse as there’s no way users could disable it until the most recent update. But, thankfully, Google has fixed the issue and users can now disable MMS from the Settings.Change log Hangouts v2.0.2Fixes for MMS sending/receivingYou can turn off group messaging (MMS) in Settings to send SMS to multiple peopleYou can download the updated .Source: Android Police Filed Under: Android NewsLatest Geeky Gadgets DealsDisclosure: Some of our articles include affiliate links.
