Move in to claim the ruins. Din and Bo-Katan may have to battle a lot more of these brutes if they hope to make the capital city inhabitable again. This episode also briefly features a species of predatory bird called the Galaar. The Galaar are related to a more ancient Mandalorian creature called the Shriek-hawk. Though extinct now, they once stalked the skies of Mandalore and have become the symbol of Bo-Katan’s family, House Kryze. Finally, Chapter 18 ends with a brief glimpse of a monstrous creature in the living waters. This beast is almost certainly a Mythosaur, a creature we learn more about from Bo-Katan. The first ruler of Mandalore, Mandalore the Great, is renowned for having tamed and ridden a Mythosaur. Even thousands of years later, that story remains one of the defining myths in Mandalorian culture and the reason so many of them wear Mythosaur emblems on their armor. Like the Shriek-hawk, the Mythosaur is believed to have gone extinct long ago. Though this episode suggests that isn’t actually the case. The biggest question surrounding the series right now is whether Din Djarin will embrace the responsibility that comes with the Darksaber and become the leader Mandalore needs. If he’s somehow able to repeat Mandalore the Great’s accomplishment, that makes him all the more capable of unifying his divided people.Every Upcoming Star Wars Movie and TV ShowMandalore’s New Civil WarChapter 18 also offers a bit more insight into something that’s become more and more apparent as the series has gone on. The Mandalorians are a scattered and divided people. Losing their home planet was a terrible tragedy, but the loss of unity is arguably even more profound and damaging. We’ve seen by now that the Mandalorians have reverted to a form of tribalism in the years since the Great Purge. Some, like the Children of the Watch, have become fundamentalists who treat “the Creed” as a religion and live or die by its words. That’s the camp in which Din Djarin has spent most of his life. It’s only because he follows the Creed and wants to cleanse himself of
