SL1 Distributed Architecture In an SL1 Distributed Architecture, the SL1 Agent collects data from the device on which it is installed and transfers that data to a Message Collector in an SL1 system using the HTTPS protocol. The Data Collector on which the Dynamic Applications and collection processes run then poll the Message Collector using the HTTPS protocol to transfer data to SL1. TCP port 443 must be open between the Message Collector and the device on which an agent is installed. In a Distributed Architecture, the SL1 agent requires a standalone, dedicated Message Collector. The Message Collector does not need to be dedicated to agent usage, but the Message Collector cannot be a Data Collector that also performs message collection NOTE: Message Collectors that process data from the agent have different system requirements than Message Collectors that do not process data from the agent. Solution Microsoft Failover Clusters are fully supported by Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows when managed by Veeam Backup & Replication.Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows operating in the standalone mode does not support Microsoft Failover Clusters. The behaviors you can expect when Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows operates in standalone mode on a cluster node are described below. Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows operating in standalone mode, not managed by Veeam Backup & Replication, is not cluster aware, as such failover may cause unexpected and unsupported results. Cluster features are not supported. Limitations and ConsiderationsClusters Backup is supported but without any support for application consistency. There is no guarantee of application transaction consistency when the application files are located on clustered disks, RDMs, or other shared media. Such objects must be excluded from backup in order for the node protection to be successful. A possible workaround is to use a native application backup utility for storing the backup of the disk in question. SQL Always-ON The primary node backup is supported. Transaction log backup is disabled and not supported when Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is installed on the Always-On node. The entire computer, volume level, or file level backup and log truncation will work unless failover is performed. Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows operating in standalone mode is unable to track node state changes, which may affect the backup.
