Quick erase times, it took more than 5 minutes to do a full erase.Nero CD Speed v4.01 - DVD-ROM:A little editorial note here. Like a CD-ROM, you will get different benchmark results depending on what kind of discs you are using. You are probably going to get varying results from a full data disc to a single layer movie disc. You're also going to get different results for single and dual layer discs. The CD Speed website recommends using a single layer DVD-ROM disc with a capacity of at least 4GB. If you use a dual layer disc you probably won't get the best results because most DVD-ROM drives slow down to read them. Some even slow down to read single layer DVD-Video discs. To make a long story short, I am using a 4.37GB single layer, single sided disc for this test. Drive will write to DVD+R Double Layer Media. So does the advertising. But the fact is because of a design flaw this drive will not write to DVD+R DB Media, only non-existent DVD-R DL Media. So if writing DL media is important, this drive is useless to you.Date published: 2022-11-07T00:00:00-05:00 Rated 5 out of 5 byHengistgromhydig from LG- Life's not so Good with this productI bought this several months ago, and haven't been able to get it to work. Followed all the troubleshooting instructions on the LG website to no avail, used other troubleshooting instructions- nothing. Called LG and the rep said they'd send a return email so I could get another in 3-5 business days. That was 5 a week ago and nothing. Still waiting for the RMA label. So, I basically flushed the money down the toilet for a device that didn't work out of the box. Pity. I really need a Blu-ray player.Date published: 2024-03-23T00:00:00-04:00. Forum Video DVD Ripping CloneDVD vs ImgBurn vs Others Thread--> Member I’ve been trying out CloneDVD as it comes highly recommended to me, but I’ve been largely disappointed with it. The first copy I made didn’t play correctly in VLC player, but did play on PowerDVD. The second issue is with the layer break. I’ve been told numerous times by numerous people CloneDVD preserves the layer break of the original media, but that is not my experience. I checked a couple of DVDs and the original layer break was very different to what CloneDVD stated. ImgBurn on the other hand picked it up perfectly.I tried to treble-check with IFOedit and PGCEdit, but I don’t know how to work it out from them. Any help would be appreciated?Thirdly CloneDVD did not make perfect ISOs of the disc.Sorry for the long winded introduction, but my question is… in conjunction with a copy protection remover, does ImgBurn deal with Structural Protection ok? Are there any downsides to ImgBurn or indeed another program even better? I believe DVD fab preserves the layer break, but I haven't checked that out yet… Member I don't think imgburn has any protection removing capabilities, neither read nor write Member Use DVD Passkey and then IMGBurn if needed. For me I no longer deal with handling and playing physical material other than ripping to MKV the main movie. If you buy DVD+R DL blanks from "big" brands (e.g. Sony/Maxell/Samsung/etc) you'll probably get RITEK-S04 dye, which your burner does support. Author Posted December 7, 2009 OK. Thanks. Author Posted December 8, 2009 MKM-001-00 and MKM-003-00 are Verbatim 2.4x and 8x rated (respectively) DVD+R DL blanks. If you buy DVD+R DL blanks from "big" brands (e.g. Sony/Maxell/Samsung/etc) you'll probably get RITEK-S04 dye, which your burner does support. How can I tell what the actual brand of the media will be before buying the pack, opening them and checking with some tool. The DL disks that I use have the covers 100% like this: as you can see, those are RITEK-S04, whereas mine were CMC MAG-D03. Posted December 8, 2009 (edited) That's the thing, you generally can't tell by looking at the packaging what dye you're getting, also most "brands" get the disc's from several manufacturers (CMC, Ritek, Ricoh, etc) and depending on the batch and where you buy them from it could be any one of them. The one exception is Verbatim, all their double layer discs are manufactured by their parent company and will be the MKM dye.You might want to instead check out an online retailer that specialize in blank DVD's like SVP.co.uk since they list the dye used and is probably the only way to know what you're getting in advance, that is if you really want to buy one of those other brands, although I just noticed that on some products even they can't be sure and have listed several possibilities... or just get some Verbs and give them a go. Edited December 8, 2009 by jeff_nz Author Posted December 8, 2009 (edited) Yeh, I think I'll save the hassle and start using Verbatim only. I always knew they were best, but still kept getting cheap TDK from a local store since I had always used TDK single layer without any problems. Looks like it's a different story with dual layers. But I heard that even Verbatim have dodgy inferior quality ones. The ones you buy in a spindle. Pity. I really need a Blu-ray player.Date published: 2024-03-23T00:00:00-04:00
