It's a real shame they didn't do 8 voice versions for a Boutique Mark II range. I'd happily pay double for that. I have the System 8 but its missing that classic aesthetic.I didn't spend much time with the TAL demo, it sounded good but i wasn't blown away. The ArturiaV4 sounds like I always expected a J8 to sound with its drifty tone and fat oscillators. It's my favourite so far. I remade some of the Arturia presets on my System 8 and got 90% there, but the Roland feels too static now. IMO it has lost its crown as the definitive J8 emulation. That phasey chorus sound of VCO oscillators drifting can't be replicated on the Roland to my knowledge, and it's a big part of the original sound, isn't it?I wish the condition parameter was more like the Vintage knob on the P5. I think that'd bring the Roland to life. Gear Addict Joined: Jul 2013 🎧 10 years Quote: Originally Posted by jaxman12 ➡️ Great video comparison. Wish they had one for Arturia Jupiter8 v4. Best Free VST Plugins Just wanted to share with you guys some free plugins I found from Antress. Their plugins sound really good (especially the Fairchild and Tubetech Compressor Plugins). I suggest you guys check it out. Best of all, they are free! I've been using those compressors more than my URS Classic strip! They even did a Distressor plugin, freakin sweet!Antress Modern PluginsEnjoy Guys! Registered User Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 630 🎧 15 years thanks thanks chris, I'll check them out. Can't beat free! These truly rock. Lives for gear Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 1,094 🎧 15 years Stillwell aren't free though. Blockfish rocks, and free. Lives for gear Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 3,169 🎧 15 years Demo versions are full featured, just with a nag screen. This means free. But I am a huge fan of the digital fishphones. Lives for gear Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 1,094 🎧 15 years The problem with the antress plugs, besides not sounding anything like the gear they look like. Is that they use a ton of processing. Not worth it to me, but ymmv. The ssl listen comp is cool for total compression destruction. Pianoverb is cool for haunting verb weirdness. Lives for gear Joined: Sep 2008 🎧 15 years yes, this is definitely a well-worn path here.. use the search. After auditioning a lot of free plugins & throwing most of them away, of the ones I've kept I find that I keep coming back to:Fish Filets- blockfish is pretty great for noisy, heavy-handed, gooey compression- spitfish is a damn good de-esserKjaerhus Audio- the whole "classic" lineup is pretty great, i use the comp every day and the modulation effects.
