Jerry McBride/Durango Herald A new bank will be filling an empty lot on north Main Avenue where Mama’s Boy Italian Restaurant used to stand. Four Corners Community Bank, based in Farmington, is building its first Durango branch on the site, across from the Durango Community Recreation Center. The building is scheduled to be finished in early 2016. The bank was started 15 years ago because so many banking services were being outsourced, said Greg Anesi, the vice chairman of the bank’s board. “Locally-owned banks help our communities grow and prosper,” Anesi said. Shawn Candelaria, who will be the Durango market president, brings experience as a longtime local banker to the job, said Sheila Mathews, the bank’s president and CEO. The Durango branch will be Four Corners Community Bank’s seventh location; there are two in Cortez, three in Farmington, and one in Aztec.
