I actually prefer the plugin in that example, the kick sounds boomy through the Distressor. To perfectly match them, you could parallel the kick through something else. #13 On my Distressors (vocal use) I'm usually 6:1, HPF in the detector, and Distortion 2. A few dB of crush. The Fatso doesn't have the friendly mid level comp (6-8dB) that the Distressor has. It starts to pump too much. Just hitting it a bit, though, is quite Distressor like, but so is hitting it hard (10dB plus). On Fatso, use tracking comp mode, HP in the detector (120Hz, normally). Start with Warm 3. It odes have some great "character" with it. Especially on vocals and clean guitar. If this helps, do you have the CW CA-2A plug? If so, then it's a real close (I think better) to the CLA-2A. So you have that covered. Grab the 3A and see what you think. You can demo them (CLA-2a/3A) both also. It looks like another one of those tools like VOG and Waves Vitamin that combines existing processing techniques into a convenient package. It's all about the workflow. It combines an EQ or de-esser of about 1.5 octave width tuned to 3.1khz, M/S options, tube sat, make-up presence, and wet/dry. I like it, it puts it all together nicely; this is the sort of task where you need to find a sweet spot, and this makes it easy.
