Vellum now allows you to export a Kindle MOBI file or a Kindle EPUB… or both!In times of great change, it’s good to know there’s a rock you can count on. And that rock, dear indies, is BookFunnel. We’re always here, working tirelessly to make your indie author lives easier.If you’re a Vellum user, then congratulations! You’re already using the best software in the business for formatting ebooks. They didn’t pay us to say that, we just happen to know it’s true. If you follow the Vellum blog, or you’re on their email list, you’ll know they announced a big change in the way ebooks are produced in the latest version.The short version is that Vellum can no longer produce a MOBI file due to limitations in Amazon’s KindleGen. In place of a MOBI, Vellum now compiles a Kindle-specific EPUB which can be compiled to a MOBI. But where, oh where, can you quickly and easily convert that Kindle EPUB to MOBI?Right here at BookFunnel (See what I mean? ROCK!). We already support the new change. Hmm, could we make Fall Cleaning a thing? Better take a note and put it on my desk for later… I’m sure none of you authors can relate to the whole piled-desk thing.Moving on. So… we announced custom ebook samples on Tuesday and then personalized watermarks on Wednesday.Did you know that every BookFunnel reader has their own library of books? They do! This is not today’s announcement. For years now, BookFunnel has kept a library for every reader with all of the books they’ve received from their favorite authors. Whether it was a reader magnet, or an ARC, or a book they purchased directly from you, they’re all there.Like a lot of our features, we built libraries based on emails from readers. See, humans readers lose things all the time. Files, links, emails, phones, tablets. And, when they would lose a phone (for one reason or another… mostly toilets), they could lose some of their beloved books! Well, that simply will not do.So we, being the reader lovers we are, decided it was on us to solve the problem. We added reader libraries so that your readers would never lose your beautiful words again. Our Audiobook feature allows you to upload multiple, chapter-length MP3 files that make up your book. Our system will compile the files together into a full length audiobook that you can distribute to your listeners! Audiobook delivery is a new service on BookFunnel that was officially released in June 2024. This is a separate plan that can be added on to any existing Mid List Author plan or higher.
