2025-04-05For some reason Avast seems to be blocking a web site that it shouldn’t.How can I tell if it is an Avast problem or if something else is going on?I am using Avast v. 10.3.225.Or maybe somebody can explain how to Avast learn that this is an OK website? Thanks in advance… Pondus August 3, 2015, 1:56pm 2 what website?and what does avast say … is it URL:mal ? The website is… say’s:"Google Chrome is having trouble accessing the network. This may be because your firewall or antivirus software wrongly thinks Google Chrome is an intruder on your computer and is blocking it from connecting to the Internet.Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings. If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again"This is the only site that Avast or something blocks. Funny thing tho… it worked a few times yesterday. And if I use Safari for PC it works fine. Thanks for the help…Rich Pondus August 3, 2015, 2:35pm 4 never seen that message before ?seems like a avast / Chrome issue and not related to the website … tried with IE / Opera Thanks for looking and trying to help… It seems that if I go to Settings—>Active Protection—>Web Shield in Avast and turn off Web Shield I can get there with no problem. I entered the URL into the Exclusions portion of Avast but for some reason it did not work and the site still gets blocked.I really hate leaving it off but I don’t know what else to do… mchain August 4, 2015, 11:05pm 7 Could be a false positive but we would need to see a block by avast screenshot from you to know that. From what you say is avast firewall is blocking Chrome from accessing this site cannot be as you are turning off WebShield in order to access using Chrome. WebShield and your firewall are not the same thing. If it was your firewall blocking Chrome it would not work anywhere, not even this one particular site. Are you sure this warning is not a phishing attempt to get you to visit a malicious site elsewhere?A screenshot of this warning would help (provided you have WebShield turned on). How do I insert an image?I click on the “Insert Image Icon” in the above toolbar and I get these…What is it that goes between the two image tags? mchain August 5, 2015, 6:06pm 9 Attach your image you’ve saved to the Attach: box below: Here is the screen shot of my error message… mchain August 10, 2015, 4:59am 11 Thank you for the .jpg (pic). 2025-04-13Hence, a new industry of anti-virus applications has sprouted up.Īvast is one of the major anti-virus developing company. Several malware, Trojan viruses, and other harmful applications are exposed via the internet, which can cause devastating losses. Right from highly sensitive data as the banking system and hospital system, to the individual user desktop data, all are vulnerable to cyber-attacks. With the increasing dependency on technology and digitization, there is an equally increasing threat. There are uncountable uses of internet technology and hence it is imperative to a sound development that it reaches out to many. Re: Updates reset firewall settings You could try the AvastUI > Settings > General > Troubleshooting – ‘Back up your Avast settings’ and see if that contains any firewall settings after a program update. In today’s world, technology has reached far and wide. Can Avast and Windows security run together?. Why is Windows Defender blocking Avast?. How to get rid of avast safe zone browser utorrent# How do I enable Utorrent Avast firewall?. How do I know if Avast is blocking a program?. Do I need Windows Firewall if I have antivirus?. How do I turn on Avast Firewall in Windows 10?. How do I allow a program through Avast firewall?.
2025-04-05December 12, 2017, 10:29pm 1 Hello. I made a mistake installing Avast on my windows 10 machine, and now i cant get rid of it. I tried deleting it via Programs and Features option in Control panel, i tried using Avast cleanup program. After a few hours Avast shortcut appears again, and when i check - program is installed again.Even more wierd things - when i tried to uninstall it the third time (using control panel) i keep getting error - Setup is already running, please try to start the setup later. And there is a link to an empty log page. There is no other programs installing or uninstalling, control panel has no troubles uninstalling any other programsI dont want to say this, but Avast does looks like malware - program should not install itself without my permission. It is also impossible to kill the process with Task manager (even when i open it as administrator). Aslo not having a proper uninstaller inside program folder is a pretty bad moveEdit - And its even blocking my attempts to remove it from startup! That does feel like a virus. Installs itself, cant get rid of it you have no idea what it is doing…Edit 2 - i also feel like i have to point this out - this is almost completely clear installation of windows 10. Only programs that have been installed are either open source and trust-able, or free (maybe not THAT trust-able) like google chrome Did you manage to sort this out as I have exactly the same problem - I can’t uninstall Avast free program as says “Setup still running” with an empty log box. I am not sure where to go with this as I downloaded the Avast Clear uninstall program but that did not appear to work.thanksHalina mchain January 19, 2019, 3:25pm 3 As long as Avast says “Setup is running” you won’t be able to interrupt the setup to uninstall it.Setup will stop running if you enter SafeMode, use avastclear.exe to do so.Follow directions exactly here: enter SafeMode, double-click the avastclear.exe as administrator (avastclear.exe must be on your desktop). AvastClear.exe will ask if you want to enter SafeMode. Click Yes.Please read this and see if this applies to you:
2025-04-01October 11, 2007, 10:03am 1 Hi,I’ve just installed Avast 4.7 Pro on 3 pcs. All 3 are running XP Pro networked to Win2003 Server. The server is providing Sage Line 50 data – all 3 running MS Access 2003 with ODBC link to Sage. When running the Access query that links to the relevant Sage table the program slows considerably – sometimes taking up to 7-8 minutes to pull back data. This normally happens within 20 seconds or less when I stop the On-access Scanner (or prior to installing Avast)I’m guessing that Avast is scanning every time this link opens – I’ve tried blocking out the relevant directories, but so far I’ve had no luck. Can anyone help me with an easy way of fixing this please as I can’t seem to find what is causing the problem without switching off the On-access Scanner completely? Thanks,Steve. ??? Lisandro October 11, 2007, 12:26pm 2 As a workaround, you can add these files to the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning) exclusion list.Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize. Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…Can you submit the files being scanned for analysis? system October 11, 2007, 12:43pm 3 I’m not sure but submitting the files would involve giving you all of our Sage accounts database table which I’m not too happy about. The problem only occurs when the linked table is first used - after the link is established it seems to be OK. I’ve tried adding the mapped drive paths to the accounts tables, the directory the Access database is in and also the local path for the MS Access program but still no joy. I’m sure I’m missing something here - but what? Lisandro October 11, 2007, 12:53pm 4 Giving them… I’m an user like you 8)The string is read as text, I mean, C:\Program files is different, in this case, from C:\Program~1Are you using wildcards? system October 11, 2007, 1:05pm 5 Aha! Thanks for that, Tech, I think I’m probably entering the strings in incorrectly. How do I use
