Mod That Brings Back The Single-Player For Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Is Out Now Wolfenstein Sign in to your TheGamer account Wolfenstein is a storied name in video games. The original was one of the first first-person shooters, when it came out in 1981, and ever since the series has returned every now and again to take players back into Nazi hunting action. In 2003, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was due to be released. Originally planned as an expansion pack for Return to Castle Wolfenstein, it was decided that it would become a standalone game. However, due to problems with the single-player portion of Enemy Territory, only the multiplayer was made available. At the time, id and Activision said, "Desite a strong efffort from talented developers, the single player portion of the game did not progress as anticipated." The multiplayer portion of Enemy Territory was to become a source of inspiration. There was even a "Last Man Standing" mode and the experience points gained to use for weapons would influence subsequent shooters, but the single player campaign was never to be. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was fairly revolutionary for its time, being one of the first class-based shooter games to offer an experience progression system, something which now seems standard for many online multiplayer shooters. But the game always felt like it was lacking something without a solo campaign, which can be so important in establishing a shooter's presence and credibility. However, a modder known as William Faure has given Wolfenstein fans the chance to experience what that campaign might have been like. His mod creates a story campaign in a rather clever way, by bringing together Enemy Territory's maps to create a unified experience. There is even a trailer for it, featuring decidely retro-looking graphics. There will be a co-op version of the mod that will launch on November 30 and is being tested right now. To try the the Wolfenstein: Enemy story campaign mod players will need to have Return to Castle Wolfenstein installed and an overhaul mod. The single player mod is available on Steam - where it is described as 'the missing link of the classic Wolfenstein series' - and also on Mod DB. A trailer for it can be viewed here. Wolfenstein is a first-person shooter set in WWII. Like the other games in the series, the 2009 game stars American agent William "B.J." Blazkowicz in a world where mad science, monsters and the occult are very real. As Blazkowicz, the player must battle legions of Nazi troops using a variety of different weapons until he finally confronts the enemy leaders in a bizarre alternate dimension. Wolfenstein is the definitive run-and-gun shooter franchise, and Wolfenstein's gameplay tends to favour aggression and fast reflexes over caution and planning. However, the new version includes some more sophisticated elements. The Nazi-occupied city of Isenstadt serves as the centre of the game, with Blazkowicz heading out from the town to carry out individual missions. Contacts in the city allow B.J. to receive missions as well as buying and upgrading weapons. Another innovation is the Veil; this is the boundary between our world and the Black Sun dimension, the goal of the Nazi occultists. By using his Thule Medallion, B.J. can enter the Veil; while here, he can jump higher and locate hidden entrances, accessing areas of the real world he wouldn't otherwise be able to reach. Veil Sight also allows B.J. to spot enemy weak points, helping him in his tougher battles. Mastery of the Veil grants B.J. other powers, but he isn't the only one -- some of his enemies have Veil-enhanced weapons and attacks of their own. Wolfenstein's multiplayer modes hearken back to the popular multiplayer sections of 2001's Return to Castle Wolfenstein. With limited multiplayer modes, it never made much of a dent in the dominance of other WWII shooters; today, with a diminished player base, the main appeal of the game is its single-player campaign. Expect about six to eight hours of play from this campaign, about the same as any other modern shooter. Wolfenstein received mixed reviews, with most criticism centering on the fact that the game wasn't exactly innovative; it resembled its 2001 ancestor more than the shooters most in vogue in the late 2000s. Today, the game still seems pleasingly retro, but it lacks both the graphical punch and the sophisticated tactical design of a more modern game. Still, you don't need fancy features to make shooting Nazis and monsters fun. Pros Run-and-gun action Other-dimensional explorationCons Dated graphics

Have to wait I guess since I'm about to start another walkthrough on Return to Castle Wolfenstein. :) (Version 1.3) January 18, 2002: Finally finish the walkthrough by adding the "Tech Structure" section after MIA for more than a month. Since my mock exam is starting next week, my RTCW walkthrough will have to be delayed for another two weeks. See you all in Return to Castle Wolfenstein! Auf wiedersehen! :) (Final Version)-----------------------------------------------------------------------2. IntroductionPlease note that I'm very busy with schoolwork (I'm a grade 12 student) and updates may be very slow. I will try to update as often as I can but the major ones will only come during weekends. This is my second FAQ so I hope you will forgive me on any mistakes and errors. If you have any critics, suggestions, comments and things to add, don't hesitate to email me at [email protected] more thing, this FAQ is protected by the international Copyright Law so if there's anyone who wants to post this FAQ in his or her site, YOU HAVE TO LET ME KNOW FIRST!!! I've heard many stories about people plagiarizing other people's FAQ to make money and believe me, writing FAQ is not easy and to you know how it feels if your hard work is used by other people. So for all plagiarizers out there, be warned that if you do anything to my FAQ, I SWEAR THAT I WON'T LET YOU OFF THAT EASILY!!!-----------------------------------------------------------------------3. Game OverviewRed Alert 2 is one of the best RTS games ever created (in my opinion at least). Everything was just amazing!!! The units and structures are absolutely fantastic and equally balanced on both sides. The heart-thumping music just adds to the excitement of the game whether you're playing in the single player mode or battling other people online. And on top of that, the cut scenes are absolutely superb which will engross you deeper in the storyline... -----------------------------------------------------------------------4.
