It's strange hearing people say they know he's Parisian from his accent when they're all speaking German, but the stories are so good it doesn't matter. The subtitles are English so what's the difference. The actors are excellent especially Inspector Dupin. He's so precise and determined in his inspections and the funniest parts are when he uses red string to tie each picture & piece of the puzzle together. Dado que ya ha pasado más de un mes desde el asesinato y Dupin no tiene acceso directo a las pruebas, recopila todas las noticias aparecidas en los periódicos, y a partir de ellas hace un análisis exhaustivo de cada circunstancia que rodea al asesinato y confirma o rechaza la hipótesis que expone cada diario. Esta parte es la que más me ha gustado, paso a paso, y con su habitual destreza analítica, Auguste Dupin deduce lo que ha sucedido. Lo que menos el desenlace, pues a pesar de que Poe escribe que se “obtuvo el resultado que deseaba”, o sea que se encontró al asesino, el final está indefinido y queda más como una sugerencia, pero no da nombres y detalles concretos.“La carta robada” es el más corto de los cuentos, aunque no por ello menos interesante. El narrador, sin nombre, y Auguste Dupin reciben la visita del prefecto de la policía de París. Una carta de gran importancia ha sido robada. Conociendo la identidad del ladrón, se ha buscado con los métodos más exhaustivos de la policía durante semanas, sin ningún resultado. Everyone knows everyone else and nothing much seems to happen. However, one morning he is dragged from his coffee and croissant to the scene of a murder at the local Central Hotel. The housekeeper has discovered the 91-year-old manager and owner Pierre-Louis Pennec dead on the restaurant floor.The very occurrence of such a murder in such a place sends both Dupin and the local community into a state of shock and surprise. However, soon Dupin and his team come up with five viable suspects, including a rising political star, a wealthy art historian, and a long-time friend of the dead man.
