Townsquare's KLUB Tejano Takes Over South Texas RadioKLUB-FMTownsquare Media/Victoria, TX, the home to KIXS-FM, KTXN-FM (98.7 Jack FM) and KQVT-FM (Q92), launches a new station in the market, KLUB as "Tejano 106.9." The station debuted at 12pm on Tuesday, broadcasting to towns that have never had Tejano music on the radio dial like Goliad, Edna, Port Lavaca and Yorktown, among others. Townsquare/Victoria Market President Mason Benitez made the move after surveying the market and finding out what holes needed to be filled. "Tejano is huge in this area. The concerts are always sold out and any festival featuring Tejano does really well. We wanted to give our audience what they were previously missing on the radio." KLUB Tejano will feature Tejano radio legend Bo Corona in the afternoons, from 3-7pm. Corona has nearly 30 years of radio industry experience in Texas, having worked as an on-air host for KPRR-FM in El Paso, KTFM-FM in San Antonio and KXTJ-FM & KQQK-FM in Houston. Corona also helped launch KXTN-FM (now KVBH-FM) in San Antonio where he anchored the morning show. Middays, 10AM-3PM, will feature Victoria's own JP who has been in the local Tejano scene for years and currently hosts the KIXS 108 morning show with Ingra Lee. Townsquare/Victoria Director of Content Jim Kovacik said, "I've worked with Bo before and he has so much passion for radio and Tejano I think people with be blown away. JP has been a big part of this switch. He's going to be the face of Tejano here in Victoria. We are also hoping to be adding even more Tejano superstars soon." Univision's KXTN-FM/San Antonio Celebrates 30 YearsUnivisionUnivision Radio's KXTN-FM (107.5 Tejano & Proud)/San Antonio is celebrating 30 years of serving its listeners and community on June 15 and 16 with a free, family-friendly festival. It will include tributes to three of the genre's biggest stars as well as a concert with top performers. The two-day event, will feature Tejano legends including La Mafia, A.B. Quintanilla, Michael Salgado, Ram Herrera and David Lee Garza y los Musicales, among others, performing live in the city's Rosedale Park. The festival will offer a special tribute to the recently departed Tejano music pioneer, legend and multiple Latin Grammy winner Jimmy Gonzalez. Throughout the weekend, the festival will also pay tribute to two late stars who drove the popularity of the genre. Tejano singer and songwriter Emilio Navaira will be honored on Friday night, and Selena Quintanilla Perez, the Queen of Tejano music, will be remembered on Saturday. Founded in 1988 to meet the growing demand for Tejano music, KXTN started by broadcasting hits from established entertainers such as Valerio Longoria, Flaco Jimenez, Latin Breed, Royal Jesters and Sunny Ozuna. The station's popularity has increased as Texas' Mexican-Americans made the sound mainstream in the 90s with Selena, David Lee, Emilio, La Mafia and Grupo Mazz. "It is with much pride that we celebrate 30 years alongside our community," said Univision San Antonio VP/GM Chris Morris. "This weekend is an opportunity to look back at how the station has transported loyal fans through music and reaffirms our continued commitment to bringing our audience more of the sounds they want to hear." Lisa Lopez-Galvan, radio host of "A Taste of Tejano" in Kansas City, was killed following the Chiefs' Super Bowl parade Wednesday. SAN ANTONIO — An argument between several people led to a deadly shooting following a Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City on Wednesday, police now say. Two of the suspects taken into custody are teenagers. One person was killed and 23 others were injured; two victims remain in critical condition as of Thursday night. The fan who died was a beloved radio host in Kansas City. Lisa Lopez-Galvan, 43, hosted the segment "A Taste of Tejano" on KKFI 90.1 FM, a volunteer-based community radio station. Her loss is touching the hearts of Tejano listeners across the nation, including in San Antonio. KENS 5 listened in as a local radio station hosted a day-long tribute in Lopez-Galvan's honor. As the team at KLMO 98.9 FM spent time learning about Lopez-Galvan's legacy, they felt a sense of pride learning about her role in preserving Tejano music and culture in the Midwest. While the local radio DJs didn't know Lopez-Galvan personally, they still consider her one of their own. "The Tejano community, the Tejano industry, we're all family," said Frank Desantiago, a morning show host on San Antonio's KLMO 98.9 FM, known to listeners as "Bigg Boyee." Crisscrossing Tejano airwaves Thursday, radio hosts announced the heartbreaking news out of Kansas City. Desantiago began his show in silence. He encouraged listeners to pay their respects on Facebook Live. The responses came flooding in. "A very big loss for your guises (sic) industry, and to the family," wrote Sally Brown on Facebook. "She will always be remembered." "Thank you for loving, sharing and putting out our Cultural music (Tejano) to Kansas," added John Ayala. "Texas praying for Kansas." Martha Dominguez chimed in, commenting, "Descansa en Paz..+Sending Prayers..Dios con Ustedes." Lopez-Galvan hosted her last segment of "A Taste of Tejano" the night before she died. "The first reaction was shock, because how are we gonna get Tejanos over there in Kansas City? Do we even know where that's at?" said Desantiago, half-jokingly. "To actually get a radio station to put them on the air in Kansas City, that's saying something right there... [Lopez-Galvan] was at the forefront." The Latino newspaper Kansas City Hispanic News reported that Lopez-Galvan's love for Tejano came from her father, who still plays in a mariachi group to this day. That plays when one starts the game and tunes into Wildstyle.During the beginning to said song, Mr. Magic gives a shout-out to "Cool Craig and Allan, along with their homeboy Will" who are finishing up their albums, a reference to Craig Conner, Allan Walker, and Will Morton, all of whom worked as sound producers at Rockstar North.Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five's "The Message" was sampled in Ice Cube's "Check Yo Self" remix, which featured on Radio Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.2 Live Crew's "Get It Girl" samples Man Parrish's "Hip Hop Be Bop (Don't Stop)," which also appears on the radio station. Many songs have different versions, remixes or mixes of their original versions. These include:The version of "One for The Treble" is the vocal mix of the original song. The version of "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)" is rather the B-Side of the original track. It is noted as it begins with the "It's Time" intro spoken in the song. The version of "Bassline" is the Club Version of the original song. It is notable due to the extra keys and sounds heard in the beginning and middle of the song, as opposed to the original, which does not include the extra keys. The version of "Hip Hop Be Bop (Don't Stop)" is "The Unauthorized Acid House" remix by Michael Gray. This version is a lot faster than the original one and contains additional samples and different mastering. The remix came out in 1988 as part of the "September 88 - Mixes 1" compilation, which means that the version used in-game is anachronistic.See Also[]N-CT FM - a hip hop radio station in GTA.KREZ - a hip hop radio station in GTA 2.Game Radio - an east coast hip hop radio station in GTA III.Playback FM - a classic east coast hip hop radio station in GTA San Andreas.Radio Los Santos - a contemporary hip hop radio station in GTA San Andreas and GTA V.The Liberty Jam - an east coast hip hop radio station in GTA Liberty City Stories.Fresh FM - a hip hop and electro radio station in GTA Vice City Stories that plays other songs by Afrika Bambaataa and The Soul Sonic Force, Run-D.M.C, Man Parrish and Whodini. The Beat 102.7 - a contemporary hip hop radio station in GTA IV and Episodes from Liberty City. The Classics 104.1 - a classic hip hop radio station in GTA IV.Vladivostok FM -.
